Description:

In this episode, I am speaking with Susan Molke, National Recruiting Director in the Interim Resources Division at StevenDouglas. I met Susan at an Encore Palm Beach County virtual event. Susan’s focus is on hiring for interim positions across the country. I want to re-introduce to you the concept of working as an interim employee for 3-6 months.

I have twice before done episodes on this topic.

Episode 221 - Fractional and Interim Leadership Roles with Mike Harris of Patina Solutions and Episode 228 - Discovering the On-Demand Executive Talent Marketplace with Matt Blumberg

This is yet a different spin from a national recruiting firm.

Read from Susan Molke’s bio from her webpage on the StevenDouglas website.

Susan Molke is a National Recruiting Director in the Interim Resources Division at StevenDouglas bringing over 20 years of experience in Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, and Human Capital Strategy. Susan has worked on both the agency and client side of the business, hiring thousands of people in her practice. She is industry-fluid, with successful placements across a multitude of industries including, Advertising, Marketing and Media, Software and Technology, Consulting, Retail, Supply chain & Logistics, Fintech, and Higher Education.

Susan is recognized for her passion for transforming cultures, optimizing total talent, and building effective systems and practices. She is known as a trusted partner and key contributor to those she has worked with on recruiting solutions. Susan has a national network to tap into, assisting with her far reach and ability to place more specialized candidates, both locally and remotely. She prioritizes delivering key business resources for her clients while ensuring the best fit for her candidates to create a positive impact for all involved.

Susan is very involved in philanthropy and contributes her time to organizations such as Encore Palm Beach County, which connects people age 50+ to jobs and opportunities, Mission United Way as a career coach for veterans, and donating to The Salvation Army and The Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Description:

In this episode, I am discussing my experiences returning to the US for 3 weeks from Mexico. There are some interesting observations on how I have had to learn to adjust to the US way of doing things and not doing things that I simply do not want to.

This should be a fairly short but interesting episode. I am recording this on Thursday, October 20th. This last week has been absolutely crammed with getting things done before my wife before she left for Nacogdoches Texas to visit her family and take the car. She left Thursday and will be back on Sunday and I will be carless for that time.

I have a lot of things to get done.

  • Get the car inspected and renew the registration
  • Sell the car as we can no longer keep the car in Mexico
  • Have my hearing checked
  • Get my teeth cleaned and gums checked at the periodontist
  • Get our COVID booster shots which are not available in Mexico
  • Purchase a new MacBook Air and get the data transferred over from my ancient 2015 model
  • Order other electronics like a new webcam which is easier to acquire while I am back in Austin
  • Purchase a new iPhone for my wife and switching iPhones between our different accounts
  • Visit with my financial advisor and figure out where to get cash for the purchase of a new car in Mexico
  • Get an apostille version of my marriage certificate
  • Visit with my website developer
  • Reconnect with various organizations and friends including Metropolitan Breakfast Club
  • Pick up a bike tire and touchup paint that I cannot get in Mexico
  • Come back to vote

Description:

This episode is a rebroadcast of one of my favorite episodes from a year ago. Own your Career, Own Your Life with author Andy Storch. My wife and I have been driving this past week from our home in Mexico to Austin Texas. Rather than trying to rush out an episode, I thought I would dig back into the archives and rebroadcast one of the more impactful episodes of the last year. If you listened to this episode last year, I suggest you listen to it again.

In this episode, I am speaking with Andy Storch.

Andy Storch is an author, consultant, coach, speaker, and facilitator specializing in helping clients turn strategy into action and people doing the best work of their lives. Andy’s purpose is to love and support his family and to impact the world by inspiring people to stop drifting, take control and live life with intention.

Andy is also the host of two podcasts, including The Talent Development Hot Seat and Andy Storch Show, and the co-founder and host of The Talent Development Think Tank Conference and Community.
Andy is also the author of the book, Own Your Career Own Your Life, published in 2020.

It is because of his book that I am speaking with Andy. We met when we both were speakers for a career summit a few months back. Andy gave me a copy of his book Own Your Career Own Your Life and it really resonated with me.

Description:

In this episode, I am talking about the Absolutely Crazy Employment Status in the United States for those 55+. We are living in really strange times both good and bad for those who are over the age of 55 in the US.

The employment numbers look very good if you are older but there is a lot going on under the surface that the employment numbers really do not show.

I want to dig into this topic and I will reference a number of articles that are linked below.

Description:

In this episode, I am speaking with Dr. Cindy McGovern who is the author of Sell Yourself: How to Create, Live, and Sell a Powerful Personal Brand. Many of you will need to rebrand for an encore career, switching industries, or pivoting careers. If so, this is the book for you.

Here is her bio from her website.

Known as the First Lady of Sales®, Dr. Cindy has worked with major organizations for the last 18 years to not only help them grow but also turn their human capital into confident salespeople at every level of their company. Dr. Cindy also works one-on-one with individuals to coach them through her process and transform them into better, more confident salespeople—no matter what they’re selling!

Using tools from her Doctorate in Organizational Communication and years of consulting, Dr. Cindy developed sales cultures across various industries to change human behavior at a fundamental level. Her goal is to help people to get over the ick factor in selling so they can embrace their inner salesperson. Because everyone sells every day, Dr. Cindy wants to be a resource to help people to learn how to sell more effectively. With a business motto of “Grow Big or Go Home,” Dr. Cindy transforms businesses and individuals to increase growth and revenue.

Backed by an equally experienced team, Dr. Cindy is the face of Orange Leaf Consulting and is working with McGraw-Hill to release her second book this fall, titled Sell Yourself: How to Create, Live and Sell a Powerful Personal Brand.
